Cookie Policy

A short one, because there is not much to declare. JaneJack AI uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We do not run advertising or behavioural tracking on this site.
1. What this covers
This policy covers cookies and similar browser storage technologies used on janejack.ai and in the JaneJack dashboard. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
2. What we actually use
Strictly necessary cookies
Set by us when you sign in. They carry the session identifier that keeps you authenticated as you move between pages, and a token used to protect against cross-site request forgery. Without these the dashboard cannot work. They are HTTP-only, meaning scripts running in the page cannot read them.
Session storage
Your access token and refresh token are held in your browser's session storage rather than in a long-lived cookie. This is a deliberate security choice: session storage is cleared when you close the browser, so a token cannot survive a restart. It also means signing in again after closing your browser is expected behaviour, not a bug.
Local storage
Used only for interface preferences where you have set one. We actively clear any legacy authentication tokens found in local storage.

3. What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No third-party behavioural analytics or session recording.
- No social media tracking pixels.
- No cross-site profiling. We do not build a profile of you across other websites, and we do not sell information about your browsing.
This is why you will not find a consent banner asking you to accept marketing cookies. There are none to accept. If that changes, we will update this page and ask for consent before setting anything non-essential.
4. Cookies set by others
Our hosting and payment providers may set cookies strictly required to deliver their part of the service, for example to route your request correctly or to complete a card payment securely. These are functional rather than advertising cookies. When you follow a link from our site to a third party, that site's own cookie policy applies.
5. Managing them
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and clear site storage from its settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies listed above will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard, since they are what carry your session. Public browser documentation covers the exact steps for your browser and version.
6. Changes
If we introduce new cookies or storage, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Anything non-essential will be introduced with a consent mechanism rather than silently.
